Went for my medical this morning, got there early to the place where I had the only pre employment medical I have ever had which was over 10yrs ago (how weird was that). Filled in the huge question sheet, and no soon as I had handed it in they called me in for the medical.
I have to say they were very thorough, full sight test including colour blindness, peak flow tests with one of those huge machines, blood pressure and urine tests for diabetes etc etc, height and weight, questions about previous surgeries, the old touch your toes, stand on one leg and hop tests (which I am sure are just to make you look silly), oh and a hearing test in a sound proof booth, the results of which were interesting. My hearing is really incredibly good, freakishly good in fact, apart from in the 8khz range in my right ear which is very high pitched and must be according to the nurse the pitch of my tinnitus, and so it's hard for me to tell tinnitus from sound.......
So in the end she pronounced me totally fit for work and wonderfully well, was extremely impressed with the weight loss and apparently because of the karate and the fitness that I do there my lungs are about 10yrs younger than they should be....
So she showed me the form and that she had signed it off with no concerns and being fit for work,so now I just have to wait for the formal offer letter to arrive....whooohooooo

astras_brian in Wolverhampton afterwards and of course first stop was Forbidden Planet where I scared the men behind the counter whilst paying for a Dr Who easter egg, by telling them that you could have lots of adult fun with a UV pen and a Dr Who Jadoon Scanner....... then on the Philly Flyer for lunch which was stunning, best nacho salad ever and I did break a hard limit and eat raw mushrooms in it, and they did taste nice.....
Then home where I was supposed to do housework but somehow I got side tracked as the phone kept ringing.....
Ah well.... oh and yuk I have work tomorrow.... bletch, hurry up job letter.....
